MAYFIELD

A Historic Brand

Wine & Cocktail Brand

1884 is a restaurant & pub located in the Railyard district of Edmond, Oklahoma. The railroad was established in Edmond in 1884, hence the name. The brand was designed  to be reminiscent of the 100-year-old lumberyard on the rail where 1884 now operates. Industrial with a refined and approachable warmth. I incorporated design elements found in and around a rail yard, the locomotive industry, and a steam engine itself. The logo is a custom typeface inspired by fonts of the same era and the color scheme is drawn from smoke, lights, coal, and rust.

Leaping “Kentucky” Daisy

The “Railyard Leaping Statue” in Edmond, titled Leaping Into History, is a bronze sculpture from 2007 that honors Nannita R.H. “Kentucky” Daisey, a participant in the 1889 Oklahoma Land Run. This statue is directly across the street from the 1884 restaurant so I incorporated it as one of their illustrations.
